CNG and/or LNG vehicle maintenance and repair facilities must meet different code and safety requirements than those for gasoline and diesel. To help clients ensure safety and code compliance of existing or new maintenance facilities, NGVi offers comprehensive evaluations and consulting which consider the following as they relate to the appropriate codes:
NGVi’s evaluation process for existing maintenance and repair facilities involves a two part process.
Visual Inspection and Evaluation
NGVi travels to each client site to conduct a detailed inspection and evaluation. The evaluation includes a complete review of the existing structure—the heating, ventilation, lighting, electrical and mechanical systems currently in use. We compare existing structure and systems to current codes and industry best practices, and determine both required and recommended modifications. Required modifications, upgrades or equipment replacements are discussed with appropriate client representatives on site, where questions and clarifications are also handled.
Report of Findings and Recommendations
Following the physical audit, a written report detailing the modifications needed to safely accommodate vehicles with compressed natural gas fuel on-board is drafted and delivered to the client. This report includes photos, as well as specific code citations and a thorough description of the recommendations.
NGVi’s report is complete and can be used by a client-selected engineering or construction company to specify, price and complete the modifications.
